GHB Addiction And Dependency

Overview

For too many years to count many different forms of illegal drugs have been available to almost anyone that wants to get their hands on them.  However more and more drugs are being developed these days by people using common household chemicals.  It is much easier to go to the store and buy a few items than it is to get a coca plant to make cocaine.  Because of this fact these “new” drugs are becoming much easier to obtain and because they are easy to make, they are also much cheaper.

What Is GHB?

One of the new drugs is GHB, which is basically made from a floor stripper mixed with a drain cleaner.  As surprising as it may seem, there are people who want to put floor stripper and drain cleaner into their bodies, which can lead to addiction and dependency, as with many drugs.  GHB is a clear liquid that looks like water, and it is usually carried around in small, clear plastic bottle about the size of a hotel shampoo bottle.  This size of a container usually carries about 9 “hits” in it, depending on the concentration of the mixture.  GHB has many different street names including G, which is the most common, liquid ecstasy, liquid X, scoop, water, g-riffick, everclear, easy lay, organic Quaalude, and others.

The Effects Of GHB

GHB is used by many teens these days to get high, and it is also being used as a date rape drug.  Effects of taking GHB are intoxication, increased happiness, desire to socialize, loss of inhibition, enhanced sexual pleasure, loss of coordination, difficulty concentrating, nausea, and muscle relaxation.  Bad reactions to GHB include dizziness, nausea, amnesia, respiratory problems, coma, and death.  If you overdose on GHB you may have slurred speech, extreme sleep where you can not be woken for several hours, coma, and death.  If you have a friend that passes out for any reason, then you need to seek medical attention immediately, because if you do not get attention quickly they may die!

GHB Addiction And Dependency

It is very easy to get addicted to GHB, because of the euphoric feelings that you have while you are taking it.  Also the longer you use GHB, you become more dependent on it, and the more you have to take to get the same “high”, so the risks increase every time you take it.  This drug is very dangerous so using it can cause all of the symptoms above, the worst being death.  If you are using GHB then you need to seek help now to break your addiction.

Some of the withdrawals of GHB are insomnia, anxiety, extreme perspiration, and violent shaking.  If you are trying to stop using GHB then you need to contact a professional for help, because it will not be easy to stay off of the drug on your own.  Many different drug recovery centers have adequate facilities to deal with GHB addiction.  However you will want to make sure that once you choose a recovery center that you do whatever they say to do to help you quit.  Quitting any drug is extremely hard to do with help, but almost impossible to do on your own.  The first step to getting better is acknowledging that you have a problem and getting help.  GHB addiction is not something to take lightly, so if you have a GHB dependency, or you know someone that does, then do not hesitate to seek out help for yourself or your friend immediately.
